The role of committee members
- Represent your Chapter at events related to Business continuity & resilience.
- Participate in the planning and execution of chapter events, including networking events, workshops, and conferences.
- Promote the chapter and the professional body to potential members and partners.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the chapter's strategic plan.
- Help to identify and recruit new members for the chapter.
- Work with other committee members to ensure the smooth operation of the chapter.
- Maintain good communication with other committee members, the chapter leadership, and the professional body staff.
Eligibility
- Must have sufficient capacity to dedicate time to BCI initiatives.
- Must have an active BCI membership throughout their term.
- Must not be an employee or volunteer role holder for the DRII or similar competitor organization/group. If a candidate is a volunteer role holder for DRII or another competitor association/group, it must be declared, and the BCI Central office will review the appropriateness.
- Must not work for the same organization as each other – no more than two members from the same organization in a group.

The role of the Leader/ Vice Leader
This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Act as a liaison between the Chapter committee members and the BCI.
- Building and maintaining a strong and engaged local chapter membership base.
- Facilitating member engagement and encouraging members to participate in BCI's global activities.
- Planning and organizing chapter events, such as meetings, networking events, and highlighting thought leadership and BCI education opportunities.
- Recruiting and mentoring new chapter committee members as needed – ensuring there is a succession plan.
- Encouraging members to achieve professional certifications, such as the CBCI, AMBCI, MBCI, and FBCI.
If you are a Chapter Leader or Vice-Leader, it is important to set aside dedicated time to effectively fulfil your duties. Please be aware that this is a voluntary, unpaid role. On average, you will need to devote a few hours each month, as well as attend physical or virtual Chapter meetings as determined by the committee. Meetings are typically held on Microsoft Teams, and the BCI staff at the central office will provide comprehensive support to ensure your success.
Eligibility
- Must be willing to make a positive contribution to the Institute's goals and commit time to serving the chapter.
- Must be a certified BCI Member, i.e., hold a current voting membership at AMBCI, MBCI, Hon MBCI, FBCI or Hon FBCI level.
- Must not be an employee or volunteer role holder for the DRII.
- Must not have any personal financial ownership interest or management role in a BCI training partner at either a global or regional level.
- Must not work for the same organisation as each other – no more than two members from the same organisation in a Chapter.

Chapter Elections for Leader/Vice Leader
Below, you'll find all the information you need to enter an election.
Voting period
Once the nomination period ends, voting will begin if enough nominations are received. For example, if two or more nominations are submitted for the leader position . All BCI voting members in the region will have the opportunity to vote electronically. Eligible members will receive an email communication requesting them to cast their votes.
Canvassing and soliciting of votes
The BCI’s Bylaws prohibit canvassing or soliciting votes. If a candidate is found canvassing for votes, their nomination will be removed from the election and all votes disregarded.
Announcement of results
Following the completion of the voting period, the results will be announced to the membership.
